SPOKANE (Feb.20) -- Central Washington University sophomore
LACY HADDOCK (Las Vegas, Nev./Sierra Vista HS) has been named the Great Northwest Athletic Conference Player of the Week for men's basketball for the week of Feb. 13-19. Haddock led the team in scoring in each of its wins over Simon Fraser University and 10th-ranked Western Washington University.
Haddock scored a total of 47 points last week, 21 against Western Washington and 26 against SFU. The 6-foot-1 guard shot a remarkable 65.4 percent (17 of 26) in the two wins, and hauled down 11 rebounds while handing out a team-best eight assists.
“Lacy (Haddock) has become more aggressive on the offensive and defensive ends of the court," CWU head coach
Greg Sparling explained, "which has given us a lift in the last few weeks, especially in our last couple of games.”
Haddock has shot better than 58 percent over the past 10 games, a span in which the Wildcats have picked up six of their seven conference victories with Haddock leading the club in scoring in eight of those contests.
For the season, the Las Vegas, Nev., native is the team leader in points per game (15.5), field goals made (128), assists per game (3.2), and minutes played (30.2 per contest). He also leads all GNAC guards in field goal percentage at 53.2, which ranks eighth in the conference overall.
Central Washington will play its final two regular-season games on the road this week, visiting Saint Martin's University on Thursday (Feb. 23) at 7 p.m. and Western Oregon University on Saturday (Feb. 25) at 2 p.m.
