GNAC Basketball Academic All-Conference Team (PDF)
SPOKANE (Feb. 22) -- Three Central Washington University basketball student-athletes -- two from the women's team and one from the men's -- have been named to the 2011-12 Great Northwest Athletic Conference Basketball Academic All-Conference Team, announced Wednesday by the conference office.
Earning academic all-conference honors for the second time in her career is junior
Stacy Albrecht (Federal Way/Thomas Jefferson HS). First-time honorees are sophomore
Kelsi Jacobson (Spokane/University HS) from the women's team, and senior
Ted Nelson (Hoquiam) from the men's program.
Albrecht is an actuarial science major with a 3.91 grade-point average in her third year with the Wildcat program. She has been a part-time starter at center for CWU this season, averaging 6.6 points and 5.6 rebounds per game for the Wildcats (8-16, 4-12 GNAC).
Jacobson is a redshirt sophomore studying biology. The guard from Spokane carries a 3.25 cumulative GPA off the court, and has played in 17 of Central Washington's 24 games so far this season, averaging 5.1 points per game and leading the team with a 42.2 percent efficiency from three-point range.
Nelson, meanwhile, is a fifth-year senior for the men's team. The 7-foot center has appeared in all 24 games this season, starting six, and is averaging 2.0 points, 2.1 rebounds, and 0.8 blocked shots per game. He is a double-major with a 3.27 GPA, specializing in both sociology and law and justice.
To be eligible for the academic team, student-athletes must play in at least 50 percent of their team's games, have a minimum grade-point average of 3.20, and be in at least their second year of competition at their institution.
