ELLENSBURG (May 18) -- For the second straight outdoor track and field season, senior Kati Davis (Olympia/Tumwater HS) will represent Central Washington University at the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field National Championships.
Davis, who earned Division II All-American status last spring at the national championships with a seventh-place finish, is aiming for her third All-American honor in as many appearances at the national championships. She placed eighth at the NCAA Division II Indoor Track and Field National Championships in Mankato, Minn., in March 2012.
The women's pole vault will be contested beginning at 5:10 p.m. Mountain Daylight Time (4:10 p.m. Pacific) on Friday, May 25 in Pueblo, Colo. Davis, whose best mark this season is 3.73 meters (12 feet, 2 3/4 inches), is seeded 15th and is one of two student-athletes from the Great Northwest Athletic Conference competing in the event. Karis Anderson of Western Washington University is seeded seventh in the event.
Five other CWU student-athletes had met provisional national qualifying marks during the 2012 outdoor season, but Davis was the lone Wildcat to earn a berth at nationals.
