PUEBLO, Colo. (May 25) -- Central Washington University senior Kati Davis (Olympia/Tumwater HS) gave it her best effort with back-up equipment on Friday, but the pole vaulter failed to clear a height in her bid for a third All-American honor at the 2012 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field National Championships at the Neta and Eddie DeRose ThunderBowl in Pueblo, Colo.

Davis, who had earned All-American honors this during the 2012 indoor season and 2011 outdoor season, placing eighth and seventh, respectively, entered this weekend's meet seeded 15th. However, she was unsuccessful in any of her three attempts at the initial height and therefore no-heighted.

According to CWU head coach Kevin Adkisson, Davis had to vault on Friday with borrowed equipment. Davis' supply of poles, which she had taken at the beginning of her trip earlier this week, was lost in luggage and did not make it to Colorado until Friday afternoon when they arrived in Denver, a two-hour driving trip from Pueblo (under normal conditions). However, heavy traffic between Denver and Pueblo resulted in a tardy arrival of Davis' poles, meaning that she had to start the competition -- scheduled for 5:10 p.m. Mountain Daylight Time -- with borrowed poles.

Davis had been one of six CWU student-athletes to meet a provisional NCAA qualifying standard this season. However, she was the only Wildcat to earn a spot at nationals for the third time in as many opportunities.
