Football Announces 2018 Signing Class

ELLENSBURG, Wash.- The Central Washington University football team is proud to announce the signing of 31 high school seniors to National Letters of Intent to continue their football careers with the Wildcats.

 Of the 31 athletes, the Wildcats signed 16 to the defensive side of the ball, 14 to offense, and one special team player.
 
Twenty-nine of the signees hail from the State of Washington, with one each from Oregon and Hawaii.
 
A total of nine recruits were named to the Seattle Times Annual Chip List the reveals the state's top 100 high school football prospects.  (Members of the Chip List will be marked with a *)

A two-time All-Metro first-team safety, Breland was named the league's Most Valuable Player for his performance on the gridiron during the 2017 season … Breland also garnered the respect of his teachers while attending Cleveland High School, receiving the Spirit of Cleveland Award.

 The 2A Olympic League MVP, Brooks recorded 108 tackles, seven sacks, 27 tackles for loss, and 29 quarterback pressures while at North Kitsap High School … 2A All-State defensive tackle.

 A two time KINCO All-League offensive tackle, as well as defensive tackle… 1st Team All-State defender… All State power lifter… 87 solo tackles, 171 total.
 
Tyquan Coleman • DB • 6-0 / 165 • Puyallup, Wash. (Cascade Christian HS)
Holds two school records at Cascade Christian with 1,203 receiving yards in 2017-18 and 31 total touchdowns in 2016-17 … 4,709 career all-purpose yards … has totaled nine interceptions, 176 tackles, and two forced fumbles over his career … All-League Offensive MVP as a junior and senior … Cascade Christian's Team MVP as a junior and senior.

Cox was an all-league wide receiver and defensive lineman for the Lakewood Cougars who finished the season 7-3.  His performance on the defensive end also landed him a selection to the 2A All-State team.

Tacoma Athlete of the Year nominee, Hammond was voted Bonney Lake's Player of the Year after registering 89 tackles, 18 tackles for loss and eight sacks for the Panthers … rushed for 920 yards and eight touchdowns on 145 attempts … threw for a total of 2,436 yards while at Bonney Lake … received career and technical education graduation cord.

A three sport athlete at Ferndale High School, Hinson excelled as a football, basketball, and baseball player … threw for 3,129 yards and 44 touchdowns with a 109.91 passer rating at Ferndale … rushed for 473 yards and five touchdowns on 116 carries … 2017 3A first team All-State defensive back … 2017 Wesco 3A North All-Conference quarterback, defensive back, and punter … 2016 Wesco 3A North All-Conference quarterback and defensive back … team captain … honor roll student.

Jasso III received first team All-Area and All-League recognition as a senior at Lakes High School.

As a senior at Richland High School, Lee recorded 59 tackles, 24 tackles for loss, and 10 sacks … his performance on the gridiron earned him first team All-State recognition … member of the USA Today All State team … 2x All-Area and All-League first team … 2017 MCC Lineman of the Year …. honor roll recipient from 2014-17.

A three-year varsity letterman, Mahoney was a member of the 1,000 pound club (bench, squat, and clean) … anchored the offensive line that won a 6A State Championship, three league titles, and a 35-3 varsity record … first place in 315lb farmer carry in Metro Area Lineman Challenge … fifth place in heavyweight division of Metro Area Lineman Challenge.

A first team All-League recipient for his play at linebacker, Malietufa recorded 70 tackles as a senior at Auburn Riverside High School … named League Offensive MVP after passing for 1,345 yards and 16 touchdowns and rushing for 1,002 yards and seven touchdowns … Star Times and TNT All-Area recipient as an athlete … AP first team and USA second team All-State linebacker.
 
Colin Manners • K/P • 6-4 / 190 • Spanaway, Wash. (Graham-Kapowsin HS)
Manners joins the Wildcats after exceling at both football and soccer while at Graham-Kapowsin High School … a three-year starter for the Eagles' football team, Manners was an All-State and All-Area kicker in 2017 after converting on eight of his nine field goal attempts and 55 of 57 PATs (two blocked) … on the soccer pitch, he was an honorable mention defender in 2017 and was named the Player of the Match on two separate occasions … two-year involvement in the Pierce College running start program.

lolani High School's all-time leading passer, Mizutani has accumulated the fourth most passing yards in Hawaii's history and was named the KHON2 Rising Star … three-time first team ILH quarterback … two-time Scoring Live athlete of the week … three-time Star Advertiser player of the week … holds the top-four single game passing yard records at 'lolani and threw for a school record 506 yards in a single game … a three-year starter, Mizutani threw for for a total of 7,702 yards and 55 touchdowns while playing for the Raiders … rushed for 325 yards and seven touchdowns …  honor roll and scholar athlete recipient.

Washington's state record holder in total touchdowns in a single season (74), Racanelli has thrown for nearly 10,000 yards and 124 touchdowns while at the helm for Hockinson High School …  lead the Hawks to a perfect 14-0 record and the 2017 state championship as a senior after accumulating 4,128 passing yards, 653 yards rushing, and 74 total touchdowns (57 passing, 17 rushing) … named the 2A All-State most valuable player, 2A player of the year, state championship MVP and All-Region player of the year in 2017 … two-time GSHL MVP … two-time team captain while leading the Hawks to four consecutive league titles and holds a 43-5 record as a starter … Hockinson's senior class president.
