Murphy was a dynamic running back for the Wildcats from 1996-1999. In 1998 he rushed for 1,445 yards and 19 touchdowns, which to date, is the second-best single-season mark in school history. In 1998, he eclipsed 200 yards twice and rushed for 270 yards against Azusa Pacific, which was a single-game record. Murphy also racked up eight 100-yard games, the most in school history. For his efforts he was named an honorable mention AII-American in 1998.When inducted, he was Central Washington's all-time leader in rushing yards (3,628) and rushing touchdowns (49). Murphy graduated from CWU with a BS in Economics.
