Clem is among the most celebrated prep baseball coaches in Washington State history. During his 30 seasons leading Dayton and Burlington-Edison high schools, his teams won 481 games, 12 conference championships, and qualified for 15 state tournaments. Clem also served as an American Legion coach in Burlington, where he helped teams win nine conference championships/three state titles, and the 1991 and 2005 regional championships. In 2006, he was named the Washington State Baseball Coach of the Year and also the National High School Baseball Coaches Association Coach of the Year for Washington State Clem a standout high school and community college baseball and basketball player, came to CWU in 1973. He pitched for two seasons, both as a starter and a reliever as the Wildcats won 23 games each of those years, earning a berth in the National Association of intercollegiate Athletics District J playoffs each year. Clem also helped CWU win the 1975 Evergreen Conference title. At the time of his induction, he was the pitching coach for the Bellingham Bells of the West Coast League.
