Kitna, helped lead the Wildcats to the 1995 National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) national football title. At Central, Kitna threw for 12,353 yards and 99 touchdowns during his four-year career as the starting signal caller. During his senior season, he threw for what was then a school record of 4,616 yards and 42 touchdowns, which, at the time of his induction, was still the CWU record. Kitna was named a first team NAIA AII-American as a senior and was a three-time All-Columbia Football Association Mount Rainier League selection. He also has had an outstanding career in the National Football League (NFL). Following his CWU career, the Seattle Seahawks signed Kitna in 1996 as a free agent. He spent one season with the Barcelona Dragons, leading the team to the 1997 NFL Europe World Bowl Championship. For his play, Kitna was named the league's Most Valuable Player. Along with his two seasons with the Seahawks, he also was a starting quarterback for the Cincinnati Bengals, Detroit Lions, and Dallas Cowboys.
