In 1989, Arthur helped lead Central's women's basketball team to the best season in school history. The Wildcats posted a 31-5 record and qualified for NAIAW national tournament for only time in school history. During her three seasons, the women's basket-ball program had the most success, up to that time, in school history, recording 66 wins and just 23 losses. Arthur was a dominating rebounder especially at offensive end of the court. She still ranks among the school's all-time leading rebounders with 568 rebounds and scorers with 781 points. In track and field, she was named the team's MVP in 1989. She set the school record in 800 meters of 2:14.41, which stood for 13 years and still ranks among the best times in Central history. She also owned one of the best marks in school history in the 1,500 meters at 4:49.9.
