Earned third team All-American honors in 1958. Twice earned all-conference honors and twice won CWU's Best Blacker Award (1957 and 1958). Had an outstanding prep wrestling coaching career, posting a dual meet record of 218-37 in 14 seasons at South Kitsap. Won nine straight league titles (1971-79) and eight straight sub-regional titles (1972-79). Inducted into Washington State Wrestling Coaches Hall-of-Fame in 1985.
