A lifelong Ellensburg resident he was one of the most supportive and involved persons in Wildcat athletics. He played football for two seasons and was the President of the "W" club in 1937. Later he helped create the Merchant Patrol, which employed Central athletes to patrol the business community. He also sponsored the men's basketball "Hustle Award" from 1940 until 1976.
