Meet Results

MOSCOW, Idaho (Feb. 3) -- A total of nine Central Washington University student-athletes opened a busy weekend for the Wildcat track and field team, as they took part in the 36th Annual Vandal Indoor at the Kibbie Dome in Moscow, Idaho, on Friday night.

Of the nine Wildcats to compete on Friday, two improved upon their previously-established provisional national qualifying marks for the NCAA Division II Championships, while a third met his PNQ for the first time in 2012.

Senior Bryan Mack (Arlington) posted a time of 6.95 seconds in the preliminary round of the men's 60-meter dash to match his season's best mark in the event before improving with a sizzling 6.89-second sprint in the finals to place second in the event. Mack also added a second-place mark in the men's triple jump, leaping 13.96 meters (45 feet, 9 3/4 inches) in the field event.

Junior Brennan Boyes (Puyallup), whose high jump at the UW Invitational last weekend was mismarked in the original results and later adjusted to an official distance of 2.02 meters, met the provisional national qualifying standard in the event on Friday in Moscow. Boyes cleared the necessary PNQ height -- 2.04 meters (6 feet, 8 1/4 inches) -- to meet the standard and finish second in the event.

Junior Katharine Lotze (Benton City/Kiona-Benton HS), who had met the provisional qualifying mark in the women's triple jump last weekend in Seattle, added six centimeters to that qualifying mark on Friday. Lotze jumped 11.69 meters (38 feet, 4 1/4 inches), and finished just two inches shy of winning the event.

The only other top-three event finish for the Wildcats on Friday came from senior pole vaulter Kati Davis (Olympia/Tumwater HS), as she placed third in the event with a mark of 3.65 meters (11 feet, 11 3/4 inches). That height was three-fourths of an inch shy of her best mark of the year, a mark of 12 feet, 1/2 inch last weekend at the UW Invitational.

Sophomore Chelsea Genther (Bow/Burlington-Edison HS) competed in both the 60-meter dash and the 60-meter hurdles on Friday, joining Mack as the lone two-event competitors for CWU. Sophomore Staci Jacobson (Mossyrock) made her Wildcat debut in the triple jump, while junior Kaylee Baumstark (Port Angeles) competed in the indoor discus -- a non-championship event -- for the first time in 2012.

On the men's side, junior Manny Melo (Battle Ground) and sophomore Erik Lee (Shoreline/Shorewood HS) joined Mack in the triple jump, placing seventh and 12th, respectively.

The entire CWU track and field squad will take part in the Idaho Indoor Open on Saturday. The first events are scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. (Pacific Standard Time).
