WSOC Adds Five More for 2020

ELLENSBURG, Wash. — The Central Washington University women's soccer team has added five more signees for the 2020 season.

"We had the opportunity to add to our recruiting class and we are very excited to welcome each player and their families to Central Washington University," CWU Head Coach Michael Farrand said. "It is an exciting time to be apart of our soccer program and each one of these players brings the qualities and the competitiveness we need to continue to build toward a GNAC Championship and a deep run in the NCAA Tournament."

Morgan FischelMorgan Fischel is a 5-foot-8 defender from Mission Viejo, California, where she played for Pateadores Development Academy.  She attends JSerra Catholic High School, where she earned a starting role her sophomore season, before moving to the DA full-time.

"I chose CWU because it was the right size I was looking for in a school and it was in the area of the country where I wanted to be for college," Fischel said of her choice to sign with Central.  "I love the small-town college feel of Ellensburg and how it is different from anything I have ever experienced coming from California. I felt as if I would fit best in the soccer program at CWU because I really like Coach Mike and Coach Madison's style of play and how they have continued to succeed in growing the program every season. Go Cats!"

Farrand on Fischel: "We are very excited to have Morgan join us.  Morgan is a solid center back good and a lock down defender. She is great in 1v1 situations, breaking up the play, and is fearless in the air.  Morgan is very comfortable on the ball and is able to control the tempo of the game with her ability to successfully distribute passes, both short and long.  Morgan has a bright future as a Wildcat!"

Jayme Woodfill is a 5-foot-7 forward from Pflugerville, Texas.  She attended Hendrickson High School, before playing at Dallas Baptist University, where she saw considerable minutes as Woodfill possess the ball while fending off an attackera sophomore.  Woodfill appeared in 23 games and scored a pair of goals, finishing the season with five total points for Dallas Baptist.  During her freshman campaign for the Patriots, she made 20 appearances and tied for fourth on DBU's scoring sheet with three goals.  Woodfill was a four-year letterwinner for Hendrickson, earning all-state accolades following her senior season.

"I've always been fascinated with the Pacific Northwest and being from Texas, it's kind of a whole different world," Woodfill said. "When I got in contact with CWU, I was excited about the opportunity. A few weeks later I was on campus and it felt like home. I remember telling my dad that I was actually upset how much I liked it because I wish I could've been here sooner. I'm super excited to be a part of the CWU women's woccer team and can't wait to compete next season."

Farrand on Woodfill: "We are so excited to have Jayme join us this spring.  Along with her prior collegiate experience and strong leadership, she brings versatility in the attacking roles with her athleticism and ability to get behind the backline and to the goal.  She loves the game and loves to compete!

Lindell dribbles away from a defenderPayton Lindell is a 5-foot-6 defender from Washougal, Washington, where she was a four-year letterwinner for the Panthers.  She was named MVP following her senior season.

"I chose CWU because I love the atmosphere, also being closer to home," Lindell said. "They have many different majors to choose from and the soccer program is competitive."

Farrand on Lindell:  "Payton will be an exciting player to watch!  She is a great example of the modern-day outside back; a tough defender, technical on the ball,  loves to fly up the flank and is able to precisely deliver a ball. Payton has a good understanding of the game and puts herself in a position to get better every time she plays.  We are excited to see the impact Payton will have when she joins us in the fall. "

Aleah Washington is a 5-foot-8 forward from Ferndale, Washington.  She was a four-year varsity player and scored 35 goals during her final three seasons for the Golden Eagles.  Washington was twice named Offensive MVP.  She also earned second team all-conference during her junior year and first team all-conference during her senior campaign.  Washington Washington sends a crosshelped guide the Golden Eagles to their first state appearance in school history, advancing to the quarterfinals.

"I choose CWU because of the great team environment and the academics the school has to offer," Washington said. "Can't wait to be a Wildcat!"

Farrand on Washington:  "Aleah is a player with great potential.  She is both an athletic and versatile player who can play multiple positions.  Aleah is just now scratching the surface in terms of what she can bring to the program.  We are looking forward to seeing her growth during her time as a Wildcat!"

Maggie McBroom is a defender from Vancouver, Washington where she played for Hudson's Bay High School and the Washington Timbers.  McBroom earned 3A All-GSHL First Team McBroom defends the ball from an attackerhonors during her senior campaign.

"I chose Central because it has the right academic programs for me, as well as a great team environment where I can challenge myself and grow as a player," McBroom said.  "I can't wait to join my teammates this fall!"

Farrand on McBroom: "We have been so impressed with Maggie's growth as a player of the past four years. Maggie does a great job of controlling the tempo of the game with her passing and is robust in her ability to attack. We are excited to have a talented player and high character individual like Maggie in our program for the next four years."
