Celebrating Our Athletic Training Staff

Every March the National Athletic Training Association (NATA) membership celebrates the athletic training profession to spread awareness of the important work athletic trainers do. This year’s slogan is “Providing Healthcare Everywhere.”

Athletic Trainers are employed in many settings outside of the traditional school and professional sports team settings. Athletic Trainers can be found working in corporations, First Responder Organizations, Physical Therapy Clinics and Hospitals, with our Military and many other settings.

Athletic Trainers are licensed/certified experts who work to prevent and treat musculoskeletal injuries and sports-related illnesses, athletic trainers offer an unparalleled continuum of care. AT’s are part of a team of health care professionals; they practice under the direction of and in collaboration with physicians. Athletic Trainers work with individuals who are physically active or involved in sports participation through all the stages of life to prevent, treat, and rehabilitate injuries and medical conditions. Athletic Trainers should not be confused with personal trainers or “trainers” who focus solely on fitness and conditioning.

Below are a few thoughts and thank you’s from some of our coaches at Central Washington.

There has never been a more challenging time in college athletics the past two years. We are so grateful for the leadership from our Athletic Training staff to help guide us through.

We are very thankful for Annie and her work with the T&F team. It is so nice to have someone there for our squad that they can trust and have confidence in to give them great care. Our Student-athletes feel valued and recognized, something that very few T&F squads get at the high school level. Annie and the entire Athletic Training staff are doing great work to enhance our Student-athlete experience.

Isaac and Annie, thank you from the entire CWU Football team and staff! We couldn't have achieved our goals over the last year without your efforts! You have been with us for every countless minute and hour, every early morning and late night, every long flight or bus ride. You have made the same sacrifices as the athletes and coach's; it does not go unnoticed, thank you!

Jake understands the dedication and the grind of college athletics. Jake has mentioned to me that the reason he loves he’s job and the commitment it takes, is due to the love of his student-athletes. He’s always there for them.
Mario Andaya, Head Volleyball Coach
Jake has been a huge part of our program in the past but more so this season. We've been hit with an array of injuries and Jake has done a tremendous amount of work/rehab on our players. He's a part of the Wildcat family! Great guy!
