Senior thrower Armando Tafoya put on a show for the home crowd this past weekend at the Spike Arlt Invitational. Tafoya completed the hat trick of winning three event titles in the shot put, discus and hammer throw events. Tafoya began his string of impressive performances in the shot put, throwing a distance of 15.77 meters and followed up with another great showing in the discus, throwing for a distance of 49.88 meters. In the hammer throw, Tafoya threw nearly a full meter further than Saint Martin’s Kauanoe Vanderpoel to claim his third event victory of the day.
