The Central Washington University track and field team competed in three different meets across the Pacific Northwest on Saturday, including a pair of unscored meets in Spokane and Eugene, Ore. Click on the above links for meet results.

Dusty Lane Open
Junior Kaitlin Davis (Tumwater) won the women's pole vault with a vault of 3.65 meters (11 feet, 11 3/4 inches), and sophomore Kaylee Baumstark (Port Townsend) posted four top-ten finishes to lead the Wildcats at the annual Dusty Lane Open in Spokane.

Baumstark was third in the women's shot put (11.52 meters/37 feet, 9 1/2 inches), fifth in the women's javelin (35.81 meters/117 feet, 6 inches), seventh in the women's hammer (41.13 meters/134 feet, 11 inches), and ninth in the women's discus (34.92 meters/114 feet, 7 inches).

For the men, sophomore Jason Caryl (Omak) competed in five individual events and placed in the top nine in three of them, while teammates Kyle Fremd (Kirkland/Bellevue Christian HS), Thomas Steinke (Leavenworth/Cascade HS), and Eric Holmstrom (Mount Vernon) each had two top-ten marks. Caryl was eighth in both the 110-meter hurdles (17.26) and pole vault (3.50 meters/11 feet, 5 3/4 inches) and was ninth in the long jump (6.01 meters/19 feet, 8 3/4 inches).

Fremd was fourth in the men's 400-meter dash (51.10) and seventh in the 200 (23.36), while Steinke was fourth in the pole vault (4.10 meters/13 feet, 5 1/4 inches) and sixth in the 110-meter hurdles (16.95). Holmstrom added ninth-place marks in both the shot put (12.70 meters/41 feet, 8 inches) and discus (41.38 meters/135 feet, 9 inches) in his Wildcat debut.

Oregon Preview
Throwers dominated the Wildcats' field at the Oregon Preview at Historic Hayward Field in Eugene, Ore., on Saturday, although it was another field event competitor -- sophomore triple jumper Katharine Lotze (Benton City/Kiona-Benton HS) -- who brought home the Wildcats' highest individual women's finish from the Oregon Preview.

Lotze finished third in the triple jump with a best mark of 11.71 meters (38 feet, 5 inches). Senior teammate Torrie Self (Kent/Kent-Meridian HS) placed among the top seven in three different throwing events -- fourth in the hammer, fifth in the shot put, and seventh in the discus -- to lead a trio of throwers for the CWU women.

On the men's side, sophomore Scott Morrison (Hoquiam) took second in the 400-meter dash and added a seventh-place time in the 200 meters to highlight the efforts of six CWU men entered. Morrison's 400 time of 48.57 seconds was just 13 one-hundredths of a second off the winning time in the event. He finished the 200 with a time of 22.43 seconds.

Also representing the CWU men with high finishes were sophomore pole vaulter Scott Hunter (Hilo, Hawaii) in fifth place (4.15 meters/13 feet, 7 1/4 inches) and sophomore thrower Mike Jensen (Tenino) was fifth in the shot (14.70 meters/48 feet, 2 3/4 inches) and ninth in the hammer (45.80 meters/150 feet, 3 inches).

Lewis & Clark Spring Break Open
Sophomore Lewis Meyers (Carson/Stevenson HS) was the lone Wildcat to compete at the Lewis & Clark Spring Break Open on Saturday in Portland, Ore., taking third place in the men's high jump. Meyers cleared a height of 1.93 meters (6 feet, 4 inches), scoring six team points for CWU in the scoring meet. His height on Saturday matched his height from the opening meet of the season last weekend, a mark that finished in a three-way tie for the PLU Invitational event title.
