SEATTLE (Jan. 12) -- Junior Becki Duhamel (Wenatchee) broke the Great Northwest Athletic Conference all-time top 10 list in her Central Washington University debut, highlighting the performances of 11 Wildcats at the UW Indoor Preview track and field meet on Saturday at Dempsey Indoor.
Duhamel, a transfer from Lehigh University, had a top throw of 15.97 meters (52 feet, 4 3/4 inches) in the women's weight throw to post the seventh-best mark in GNAC history. Her mark ranked fifth in Saturday's meet, including second among non-Division I athletes.
Duhamel was one of five women to compete in two events for the Wildcats on Saturday, fouling in the shot put. Sprinter Seanna Pitassi (Jr., Camas) ran in both the 200 meters (27.99) and 400 meters (1:01.73), while Connie Morgan (Jr., Hoquiam), Kelsey Kreft (Sr., Lake Stevens), and Dani Eggleston (Fr., Longview/R.A. Long HS) all ran in a pair of distance races. Kreft was the top finisher for CWU in both the women's mile (5:28.43) and the women's 3,000 meters (10:37.63).
The CWU men had five competitors entered in the meet, with throwers Eric Holmstrom (Jr., Mount Vernon), Quinton Agosta (Sr., Bainbridge Island/Bainbridge HS), and Mike Jensen (Sr., Tenino) all competing in both the men's shot put and the men's weight throw. Holmstrom posted the top mark in his flight of the shot put (14.95 meters/49 feet, 3/4 inch), while Jensen had the top mark of the three in the weight throw (15.97 meters/52 feet, 4 3/4 inches).
Senior Kyle Fremd (Kirkland/Bellevue Christian HS) posted a time of 51.19 seconds in the men's 400-meter dash, while senior Lewis Meyers (Carson/Stevenson HS) cleared 1.92 meters (6 feet, 3 1/2 inches) in the men's high jump.
The Wildcats will have their first full-squad meet of the 2013 indoor season next Saturday (Jan. 19) at the Idaho Collegiate in Moscow, Idaho.
