ELLENSBURG, Wash (Oct, 17) – The Central Washington University men's rugby team will be competing in and hosting the Northwest Collegiate Rugby Conference 7's National Qualifying Tournament this Saturday at the Wildcat Rugby Pitch starting at 10:40 a.m.
The winner of this tournament will advance to the USA Rugby National Championship in May.
All 12 teams of the NCRC will be represented in the tournament. The tournament will be pool play format with the top eight teams from the three pools advancing to the quarterfinals on Sunday starting at 10 a.m.
Central Washington's day one draw will start with North Idaho College at 10:40 a.m. followed by Eastern Washington University and the University of Oregon at 12:40 p.m. and 4:20 p.m. respectively.
"We are excited for the opportunity to host this tournament. "CWU Head Coach
Tony Pacheco said. "The guys are even more excited to play in front of the home crowd and play some quality rugby."
The Wildcats will be lead by All-Americans
Aladdin Schirmer and
Josh Bower, and are the favorites to win the tournament.
