ELLENSBURG, WA (Mar. 8) -- The 8th ranked Central Washington University men's rugby team moved to (8-0, 6-0 NCRC) after a 95-12 thumping of the Boise State University Broncos.
The Wildcats got their first score in the second minute when
Tyler Coffman (Redmond, WA) crashed over the line following and
Aladdin Schirmer (North Bend, WA) line break.
Josh Bower (Yakima, WA) would soon add the first of his three tries on the day. Central went into the halftime break with a comfortable 55-0 lead.
CWU Head Coach
Tony Pacheco made five changes at half but the Wildcat scoring was unaffected. The Wildcats ran in six more second-half tries before the final whistle.
Central played without all-americans
Tanner Barnes (Fresno, CA) and
Clint Lemkus (Cape Town, South Africa) who were given the week off to rest minor injuries.
"We gave some opportunity to some young guys today and I was pleased with the way they played" Coach Pacheco said. "It's always nice to bring in some young talent and not miss a beat, it gives me confidence use them in contests later down the road."
Senior half back
Andrew Nelson (Renton, WA) was a stand out for the Wildcats.
"Andrew kept us playing fast and his passing was near flawless." Coach Pacheco added. "I am really pleased with his overall performance."
Next up, Central Washington will head to Seattle for a cross divisional match on Saturday, Mar. 15 where they will face the University of Washington (6-1-1, 5-1-1 NCRC).
