ELLENSBURG, Wash. (Mar. 22) – The Central Washington University softball team rebounded from two tough losses Saturday afternoon by sweeping Western Oregon University by scores of 3-2 and 10-5 Sunday at Frederick Field.
"It was nice to see the girls shake off yesterday's outcomes and get two wins today," CWU Head Coach
Mallory Holtman-Fletcher said. "We wanted our focus to be on today and to come out strong, and the players responded perfectly."
Freshman
Celine Fowler hit a walkoff double in game one, with the score tied at 2-2, and sophomore
Kailyn Campbell drove in five runs in the nightcap as the Wildcats scored six runs in the sixth inning to win the game 10-5.
Lindsey Kamphuis picked up both victories on the day, improving her record to 7-5 on the season, throwing 10 total innings giving up just eight hits and two runs, while striking out 10 WOU batters.
Game One – 3-2 Win The Wolves scored two runs in the third inning and led 2-0 heading into the fifth inning. The Wildcats scored their first run in the fifth inning when
Sammy Morris drove in
Katie Focher, and again in the sixth on a double by Focher that scored
Alexa Olague, tying the game at 2-2.
Kamphuis pitcher her way out of a bases loaded jam in the top of the seventh to hold the Wolves scoreless in the final inning.
Taelor Griffin led off the inning with a pinch-hit single for the Wildcats and two batters later Fowler hit a double over the head of the Wolves' centerfielder, driving in the game-ending run.

Game Two – 10-5 Win A Three run homerun by Campbell and a run scoring double by Olague gave the Wildcats an early 4-0 lead. The Wildcats went scoreless over the next five innings while the Wolves scored three times in the second and twice in the third to take a 5-4 lead.
The Wildcat offense ignited again in the sixth inning.
Andrea Hamada led the inning off with a solo homerun to tie the game and the Wildcats scored five more times with
Michaela Hazlett and Campbell both driving in a pair of runs in the inning.
"Hamada's homerun seemed to relax us," Holtman-Fletcher said. "After her ball went out we went on a hitting spree, which was fun to watch."
Twelve batters came to the plate in the sixth inning and the wildcats collected eight of their 12 hits in the inning.
Kamphuis shut the door on Western Oregon, putting Wolves down in order, ending the game with back-to-back strikeouts.

The Wildcats next head to California when they play third-ranked Monterey Bay on Wednesday before competing in the Tournament of Champions in Turlock, Calif. starting Mar. 27 at 9 a.m.
