ELLENSBURG, Wash. (July 31) – Six Central Washington University men's rugby players were selected as 2014-15 Colligiate All-Americans as announced by USA Rugby.
USA Rugby selected both a 15's and a 7's All-America team and the Wildcats were well represented on both.
Senior 8-man
Aladdin Schirmer headlined the selections earning first-team honors on both teams. Fellow senior
Josh Bower also found a spot on both the 15's and 7's teams earning second team and honorable mention selections, respectively.
Joining Schirmer and Bower on the 15's team are
Scott Dean,
Clint Lemkus and
Vili Toluta'u. Dean was a second team selection while Lemkus and Toluta'u were both earned honorable mention.
Zach Siemens also earned first-team All-America honors in 7's, helping lead the Wildcats to a third-place finish in the USA Rugby National Championships in May.
"This is a tremendous honor for our student-athletes who have all been instrumental in our success on the pitch," CWU Head Coach
Tony Pacheco said. "This honor is not only a testament to how talented these athletes are, but also to how hard work pays off in the long run."
