ELLENSBURG, WASH (Feb. 26) – The Central Washington University men's rugby team will play its first match at home in the 2016 season against Oregon State University. The match will be live streamed for the first time for viewers.
The Wildcats come into Saturday's match up with a three-game winning streak. In the team's last match up, the Wildcat dismantled Valley RFC by a score of 48-0, led by three trys from
Clint Lemkus.
"The guys are excited to play at home finally after a long winter," Head coach
Tony Pacheco said. "There was a little more pep in their step at training this week."
Standout
Tanner Barnes will return to the pitch for his first start since the 2014 Varsity Cup Semifinal.
"It has been a long 20-month road back to full strength for Tanner," Pacheco said. "He has looked great in training and I know he is excited to get a run Saturday."
The last time the Wildcats played the Beavers the final score read 79-0, but Central won't be overlooking the visiting team.
"They will try to slow the game down and starve us of possession and frustrate us," Pacheco said of OSU. "Tactically, we need to sustain pressure through playing multiple phases. I'd also like to see our kicking game improve this week and with the expected weather that should give us a chance to do that."
Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. on the Wildcat Rugby Pitch. The match can be viewed at
