Why did you choose Central? Central is the first program on the west coast and public institution to elevate women's rugby to varsity. It was an exciting opportunity to continue to grow the game of college rugby in this country.
What unique ability does your role give you? There is a lot of top ranked high school rugby on the west coast, and at Central I am able to provide an opportunity for those students to play high level varsity rugby close to home.
What is the best advice you have ever received? The 24 hour rule was good advice. Before acting, give things 24 hours to see how important they actually are.
What is the best thing about working at Central? Central is a beautiful campus and great community
What achievement are you most proud of? Bringing CWU Women's Rugby to both the 15s and 7s National Championship Finals in our first year as a varsity program.
What is something people may not know about you? I'm from Boston
Who is your favorite professional sports team? I'm from New England, I love the Patriots.
What is your favorite food? My favorite food is pizza, but I don't eat it very often.
What kind of music do you listen to? There are not many radio stations here!
What is the last book you read? The Score Takes Care of Itself
What was your childhood ambition? To play on the women's rugby national team
What was your very first job? A bagel shop in my hometown
What is your most prized possession? I keep the tag of my very first USA jersey in my wallet. It is a constant reminder of my love for the game, and why I coach.
Do you have a nickname? If so, how did you get it? Mel. I have always been just Mel.
In your free time you like too… Workout (lift), watch rugby, drink coffee, hang with my dog, see friends
