St. Charles, Mo. (Feb. 4) – The Central Washington University men's rugby continued their perfect season with a 21-3 victory over No. 6 Lindenwood University.

"Outstanding composure under pressure against a very good Lindenwood side tonight," CWU Head Coach Todd Thornley said afterward.  "I'm very proud of this group of young men."

Tresten Keys opened the scoring with a try in the 25th minute, capping the only offense in the first half of play.

In the second half, the Lions recorded their only points with a penalty kick, closing the gap to 7-3.

"A huge effort by the whole team," Thornley added.  "We left it all out on the field.  Sure, we weren't perfect and made mistakes, but the guys showed great mental toughness and discipline to get this win."

Larry Peneueta gave the Wildcats some insurance in the 68th minute with his first try of the contest, 14-3.

The final try came in the 75th minute, when Darren Cooper found his way into try.

Ian Wright kicked all three conversions.

"I would like to thank Lindenwood for being great hosts, we look forward to returning the favor next year," Thornley finished.

The Wildcats are back in action on Saturday (Feb. 11) in Seattle, Washington against Valley RFC.  Kick-off is scheduled for 1 p.m.
