ELLENSBURG, Wash. – The Central Washington University men's rugby team is making its way to Canada to face off with the University of Victoria this Wednesday at 1 p.m.

Central Washington and U. Vic squared off exactly one year ago in Victoria, British Columbia, with the Vikes taking a narrow 27-22 win over the Wildcats.

The Wildcats are fresh off a defeat to Brigham Young University last Saturday, but CWU head coach Todd Thornley is embracing the quick turnaround.

"We are incredibly grateful for our opportunity to play against a quality program across the border. This is a great opportunity to learn from our loss on the weekend, respond in our brief preparation period and execute against a very good opponent," Thornley said.  ""This game is a crucial step in generating momentum into our postseason play. We must execute our individual skills and team structures at a much higher percentage on Wednesday. We understand as a group that growth must occur across all areas of our program in order to achieve our goals that was set out at the start of the year".

The Wildcats are just over two weeks away from the start of the Varsity Cup that starts on Apr. 8.  The Wildcats will face either Boston College or Navy in the Quarterfinals after receiving a first-round bye.

After the matchup with U. Vic, the Wildcats will get a rematch against BYU in Provo, Utah on Friday, Mar. 31 at 1 p.m.
