PALO ALTO, Calif.- The Central Washington University track and field team had a tremendous weekend of competition, with four school records in two events. Highlighting the list of performances was the women's 4x400 relay team and
Ali Anderson,
Emily Bland and
Erykah Weems in the 400 hurdles.

In the 400-meter hurdles, three Wildcats recorded times faster than the previous school record. Leading the way for CWU was junior
Ali Anderson who crossed the finish line in 1:01.73 to place third overall.
Emily Bland was the next Wildcat to finish in 1:02.07, which was fast enough to capture fifth overall.
Erykah Weems placed ninth in 1:02.42.

Anderson, Bland and Weems teamed up with
Madison Garcia to set their second school record of the afternoon in the 4x400-meter relay. The Wildcats recorded a time of 3:45.52, which was five seconds faster than the previous record, and finished seventh.

"Big weekend in Cali for the Wildcats," CWU assistant coach
Brittany Aanstad said. "In the 4x400, our women crushed the school record by five seconds and currently rank fifth in the nation. We also had three women in the 400 hurdles break (Emily) Bland's former record. Overall, I am very pleased with the way we performed."

Anderson also competed in the women's long jump and leaped a distance of 5.39 meters to claim ninth.

In the shot put, junior
Aiyana Homer earned second overall, throwing a distance of 12.80 meters. Homer also placed 12th in the hammer throw with a throw measuring 43.19 meters.

The 100-meter hurdles featured
Mariyah Vongsaveng capturing seventh overall with a time of 14.29 seconds.
Â
Kyler Ooley competed in the 100-meter dash for Central and finished in 18th-place with a time of 11.06 seconds.
Â
Trevaughn Scott recorded a personal record time of 54.52 seconds in the 400 hurdles to place 15th overall.
Â
Kodiak Landis captured second in the men's long jump, leaping a distance of 6.94 meters.
Â
Several Wildcats also competed at the Shotwell Invitational on the campus of the University of Puget Sound.

"We had a pretty good day overall," CWU head coach
Kevin Adkisson said. "We were one of the bigger teams competing, so we had a lot of success and came out on top in a lot of events. We saw some good progress, which is always encouraging. It is nice to see people come back from spring break and be ready to continue moving forward."

True freshman
Doc Porter finished fourth in the 400-meter dash with a time of 50.34 seconds.
Daniel Calderon earned sixth in 50.76 seconds.

In the 800,
Kaleb Javier led the way for the Wildcats. Javier recorded a time of 1:58.79 to earn fifth overall.

Ron Leaf earned fifth in the 5K with a time of 16:00.
Â
Ryan Gunther finished fifth in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 16.04 seconds. Gunther returned to compete in the 400-meter hurdles, placing fourth overall in 58.19 seconds.

The 4x400-meter relay team comprised of

Doc Porter,
Kieran Sprague and
Garret Steuk captured the event title with a time of 3:27.49.

Grant Scarlett earned first in the triple jump with a jump measuring 12.87 meters.

Aidan Cain (second, 14.35 meters) and
Alberto Tafoya (fourth, 13.93 meters) represented the Wildcats in the shot put. Tafoya and Cain returned to capture second and third in the discus, respectively.

Tianna Banfro had a big day in multiple events. In the 100-meter hurdles, Banfro captured first overall with a time of 14.95 seconds. She came back to compete in the 400 hurdles, placing fourth. In the 200-meter dash, she finished second overall with a time of 25.84 seconds.

In the steeplechase,
Kaitlyn McKinney nabbed first overall with a personal best time of 12:16.88.

McKenna Emmert captured the pole vault event title.
Â
In the long jump,
Brooke Williams placed third with a leap measuring 5.03 meters. Williams also captured the triple jump event title with a jump of 11.01 meters.

Brenna Liebel placed third in the 1500-meter run with a time of 4:56.31.

Alexa Shindruk and
Delaney Clem earned fourth and fifth in the 5,000-meter run, respectively.
