MORGANA, Calif. (Jan. 6) – The Central Washington University men's rugby team fell to national champion Saint Mary's, 73-5.
The Wildcats are now 0-2 in the XV's season.
"Completely outclassed by a very good rugby team today," CWU Head Coach
Todd Thornley said afterward. "Full credit to them, they had our number all over the field. While losing hurts, this experience can only help us get better and is invaluable for the new 15 Wildcats who played for us this weekend. I am proud of our heart, but we simply need to move forward and get better."
Scott Dean had the Wildcats' lone try.
Saint Mary's offense found momentum early, winning a prolonged try line battle early, and never looking back.
The Wildcats are back in action on January 13 to take on the Seattle Saracens in Seattle.
