Ellensburg, Wash. - After outstanding performances at last Saturday's NCAA West Regional, Nicole Soleim and Alexa Shindruk have qualified for the NCAA DII Championships.
Soleim applied a calculated strategy to her race on Saturday. She started slow, then gradually improved as time wore on. In the final stages of the race, Soleim powered to the finish line, placing fifth overall. She earned an automatic bid into the NCAA Championships.Â
Shindruk emerged as an early contender for the top spot early in the race. She competed with the front five of the race for a majority of the contest. Down the stretch, Shindruk lost a couple spots, falling to eighth. It was announced on Monday that Shindruk would be joining Soleim at the NCAA Championships. Â
The NCAA Championships take place in Slippery Rock, Pennsylvania on December 1.
