ELLENSBURG, Wash. (Mar. 14) – The Central Washington University men's rugby team takes to the road for a pair of fixtures against Utah Valley University and Brigham Young University.
GAME INFORMATION
Thursday at UVU | 6 p.m. MDT
Saturday at BYU | 1 p.m. MDT
Last week, UVU upset previous No. 17 Colorado State 62-19. The Wolverines are currently sitting outside the playoffs looking in and will be hungry for another productive outing against the No. 13 Wildcats.
The Cougars on the other hand are ranked fourth in D1A Rugby. Last week they fell to No. 1 St. Mary's, 37-29.
BYU came out firing and scored first before the Gaels offense went to work, building a 19-10 into the half. BYU inched closer in the second half, with tries from Sam Roberts and Justin Weaver keeping the Cougars within one score. BYU could never retake the lead, however, and after cutting the lead to 3, St. Mary's responded immediately as Liam Cotter dotted down to give St. Mary's some breathing room and seal the victory.
Last season, the Wildcats and Cougars met twice. The Cougars came away with a pair of victories by scores of 46-24 and 55-12.
Kick-off is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. MST on Thursday against UVU and 1 p.m. on Saturday against BYU.
