Wildcats Blank Vikings, 43-0, in Cascade Cup Rematch

BELLINGHAM, Wash. (Mar. 8) — The Central Washington University men's rugby team blanked Western Washington University 43-0 in a Cascade Cup rematch Thursday evening.

Vili Toluta'u scored twice in a rain and wind soaked contest.  The Wildcats have six different try scorers on the evening.

"A great experience for our young group tonight playing away from home in very tough conditions," CWU Head Coach Todd Thornley said.  "Full credit to Western as they piled on the pressure in the first 20 minutes and we got out of jail multiple times. I was proud of our freshman to make adjustments and put in a much better second half. Kawika Macy controlled the game superbly and allowed us to pile on some pressure accessing great kick space. Now on to the next job."

Toluta'u got the scoring started in the 25th minute, with Nick Siemens adding his first of three conversions.

John Dupree tallied next in the 40th minute, giving the Wildcats a 12-0 advantage.

Toluat'u scored first in the second half, finding his way in for the try in the 53rd minute.  Four minutes later, Cole Zarcone dashed over try line.  Zarcone's try had a conversion from Siemens tacked on.

Siemens scored in the 64th minute, before Jackson Cooley and Max Riseham tallied tries in the 71st and 74th minutes.

The Wildcats are back in action on the University of Colorado on Saturday (Mar. 10) at the Wildcat Rugby Pitch.  Kick-off is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
