DENVER, Colo. (May 18) -- The Central Washington University women's rugby team went 0-2-1 on day one of the 2018 USA Rugby College 7's National Championship.
"Today was a tough day at the office," CWU Head Coach
Trevor Richards said. "The first game against the reigning national champions was rain soaked and the handling was difficult. A few too many errors negated any momentum we had and we just couldn't seem to get into a consistent flow.  Our second game against Dartmouth was a tale of two halves. We struggled to receive kick offs cleanly in the first half and barely touched the ball. We just couldn't seem to get anything going. After some tactical substitutions, we managed to start finding our game but it was too little, too late.  The third game against the pool leaders, Penn St., was the turning point for us. Although we obviously prefer a victory over a tie, we kicked our level of play up several notches. The physicality we displayed had the entire crowd going crazy and the energy the team played with was what we needed all day. Let's hope we can keep this momentum going tomorrow."
In their first fixture, the Wildcats fell to Lindenwood University 17-7.
Sui A'au scored the Wildcats lone try, While

In their second fixture, CWU fell 29-14 to Dartmouth. A'au added her second try of the day.
