ELLENSBURG, Wash. (May 23) – Central Washington University claimed third in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference All-Sports Championship hunt, the GNAC office announced today.
The Wildcats finished the year with an average score of 7.68, behind Western Washington (8.24) and Alaska Anchorage (8.53). Central's women finished second with an average of 8.04 behind Anchorage's 8.83. The men claimed fifth with an average of 6.11.
The All-Sport Championship is compiled using the Dormeyer System. It is the GNAC's third year using the Dormeyer System. Teams receive 10 points for a first-place finish with subsequent teams receiving a score based on the number of teams that participate in that sport. Scores are based on final regular-season placing in baseball, men's and women's basketball, football, men's and women's soccer, softball and volleyball; and final placing in conference tournaments/meets in men's and women's cross country, men's and women's golf, men's & women's indoor track and field and men's and women's outdoor track and field.
