No. 7 Wildcats Square Off With No. 13 Army

ELLENSBURG, Wash. — The Central Washington University men's rugby team takes on Army West Point in a neutral site contest on Wednesday.

MATCH INFORMATION
Wednesday, March 11
Vs Army
4:00 p.m.
Vallejo, CA

QUOTABLE
"Massive challenge lies ahead of us as we head on the road to take on a very good Army side," CWU Head Coach Todd Thornley said.  "They are well coached so we must execute at a very high level for the entire 80 minutes to get a positive result. Our program has been working hard to fix many weaknesses of our game and look forward to a spirited battle with the East Coast powerhouse."

SCOUTING ARMY
The Black Knights fell in their most recent outing to Cal, 60-22, snapping a four-match winning streak.  They are currently 6-5 on the year.

Army had sent St. Bonaventure, Mary Washington, Air Force, and Penn State packing, but stumbled against Cal.  During their winning streak, the Black Knights scored at least 30 points in each fixture.  They have lost every match, except one, on the season in which they did not score 30 points.  The lone victory under 30 points came against Dartmouth in a 29-22 affair.

In all but one of their victories, the Black Knights have held their opponents below 20 points.  Dartmouth was the only opponent on the losing end of a match with Army to eclipse 20 points.

Marco Carrabotta leads West Point's scoring with six tries. Larry Williams Jr. sits in second with four.  Army has had 13 different try scorers on the season.  Jason Blackwood and Jack Royston have split the kicking duties for the Black Knights.  Royston has knocked through four conversions and a penalty kick, while Blackwood has managed three conversions.  Blackwood also has one try on the season.

LAST TIME OUT
The Wildcats improved to 7-0 on the year with a 71-5 win over the Seattle Saracens.

Marques Fuala'au started the scoring in the fifth minute and the Wildcats never looked back from there.

Tries in the 12th and 20th minute by CWU to go along with a conversion quickly had the Wildcats up 19-0 at the midway point of the first half. Cameron Jamison scored the second try, while Calvin Liulamaga scored the third. Jones went 1-2 on conversions to make a 19-0 game.

The Crimson and Black did not let up on offense scoring four more times in the final 11 minutes of action in the first half. The scoring barrage started in the 29th minute and ended in the 40th minute right as the half ended.

Kawika Macy scored his first try of the day to keep the momentum rolling in the 29th minute. Six minutes later, Liulamaga scored his second try and a conversion by Jones made it a 31-0 advantage for Central.

Falani Jennings pushed the lad to 36-0 in the 37th minute before Macy's second try of the afternoon gave the Wildcats a 41-0 edge. Jones tacked on another conversion and by the break CWU was in total control leading 43-0.

Similar to the start of the fixture, CWU did not need much time to score again. A try from Haakon Kjellesvik in the 45th minute followed by a Jake Szumski conversion had the Wildcats lead out to 50-0.

The Wildcats scored just three more time in the half, to walk away with the win. Nickolis Haviland scored his first try of the game in the 59th minute and a Jones' conversion made it 57-0. CWU's final two tries came in the 74th an 77th minute thanks to the efforts of Max Riseham and Vanya Sturm, respectively.

Jones tacked on two more conversion after both tries and CWU held the 71-0 lead. The Saracens managed to avoid the shutout scoring a try in the 80th minute.
