ELLENSBURG, Wash. – On Thursday, July 9, Central Washington University Athletics occupied Suncadia Resort's Prospector golf course for the 19
th Annual
Kitna Wildcat Classic golf tournament, presented by Wells Fargo.
Due to regulations resulting from COVID-19 there were some adjustments were made to this year's tournament, such as condensing down to one course and not being able to hold a banquet following the tournament. For the most part, participants were happy to be able to get out and enjoy being within 6 ft of other Wildcats.
"It was another great year at the 19
th Annual
Kitna Wildcat Classic," Director of Athletics
Dr. Dennis Francois said. "It is amazing to see the number of longtime participants who have this on their calendar every year, including Wells Fargo and our sponsors, all of whom continue to make a difference in the lives of our student-athletes."
Over 140 CWU Alumni, staff, donors, and golf enthusiasts made the rounds at the Prospector Course at
Suncadia and helped the athletics department raise funds that go towards scholarships and enhancing the student-athlete experience.
The tournament was directed by CWU Associate Athletic Director for Development,
Troy Nealey, in conjunction with the Wildcat Club Board of Directors and the board's Special Events Committee. Nealey was happy with the turnout and support by the participants.
"Our sponsors, alumni, fans and friends truly make this a great event," Nealey said. "We can't say enough thanks for all they do to elevate Wildcat Athletics."
Lunch was provided prior to the round by Wing Central's Roadhouse Grill with beverages from Iron Horse Brewery, both owned locally in Ellensburg.
