ELLENSBURG, Wash. -- Central Washington University athletics is excited to announce Cris Belvin as the Director of Athletic Communications. 
 
"We look forward to having Cris  join our staff as the director of athletic communications.  Cris brings a wealth of knowledge and experience with him and we look forward to him continuing to grow our brand and showcasing the great student-athletes, coaches and teams that we have at Central Washington University," CWU Associate Athletic Director of External Affairs Tyler Unsicker said.  "I would also like to thank Caleb Dunlop and Hayden Mangan for their work in our athletic communications department for the past seven months." 
 
Belvin joins the Wildcats from Division I Stetson University in DeLand, Florida where he has served as the Assistant Director of Athletic Communications since 2013, his second q oh overall stint with Stetson. He served as the primary contact for multiple sports, including men's basketball and baseball, while also serving as the secondary contact for football. Belvin also served as the chair of the Social Media Committee, which serves as the governing body for Stetson's athletics' social media.

It's been a long process to get to this point, and I'm ready to help move the Wildcats to even greater levels of success," Belvin said. "I'd like to thank Dr. Dennis Francois and Tyler Unsicker for entrusting me with leading the communication efforts of the department. I can't wait to get to work." 
 
Prior to Stetson, Belvin was the Director of Athletic Media Relations at the University of North Carolina Greensboro where he oversaw all phases of the athletic department's publicity for UNCG's 16 Division I athletic programs. 
 
Belvin spent just under a decade at Oral Roberts University before making the move to UNCG. While at Oral Roberts, he joined the staff as the Associate Director of Media Relations in 2001 and was promoted to Director of Media Relations in 2005. In 2006, he was then elevated again to Assistant Athletic Director.  While at Oral Roberts, Belvin helped usher in unprecedented national media coverage for men's basketball.  
 
His first stint at Stetson began as the Sports Information Director in 1997, where he served until 2001. Belvin has also previously served at the University of Arkansas-Monticello and Austin Peay State University. 
 
In total, Belvin has over two decades of experience in athletic communications with stops at multiple levels of the NCAA. 
 
His start date at Central Washington University will be April 1, 2021.
