Henderson, Lindell and Stires Earn Player of the Week Honors

ELLENSBURG, Wash. - Three Central Washington athletes received Player of the Week honors for their performances on the road this weekend.
 
Tre'jon Henderson, a 6'0" sophomore, earned LSC Offensive Player of the Week for his showing in CWU's big victory at Eastern New Mexico. This is his second time winning the award this season. Henderson racked up 152 yards on 19 attempts, an average of eight yards per carry, for three touchdowns.
 
The running back from Fort Worth, Texas has put up 464 yards through four games to go along with eight rushing touchdowns. He's averaging 116 yards on the ground per game.

Payton Lindell, a 5'6" defender from Washougal, Wash., was named the women's soccer GNAC Offensive Player of the Week. Lindell scored the Wildcat's game-winning goal in Saturday's 2-1 win at Saint Martin's. The victory was the first conference win of the year for the 'Cats. Additionally, Lindell led the team in shots during the game.
 
Lindell also started in Thursday's scoreless draw at Western Oregon, helping the defense shut out a WOU offense averaging over a goal per game.
 
Hannah Stires, a 5'6" libero from Nine Miles Falls, Wash., was named the volleyball GNAC Defensive Player of the Week. Stires led the team in digs in both games, recording a total of 53 across the matches.
 
In Saturday's five-set battle at Simon Fraser, she registered 31 digs and added eight assists to help the Wildcats escape Burnaby, B.C. with a win. On the year, Stires has 244 digs, an average of 4.14 digs per set.
 
The women's soccer team continues their road trip with matches at Seattle Pacific and Northwest Nazarene later this week. As for volleyball, they return to Ellensburg with matches against both Alaska schools upcoming this weekend. Football is also slated to return home with a showdown versus Western Oregon scheduled for 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 8.
