Wildcats Visit No. 13 Arizona

ELLENSBURG, Wash.—Central Washington men's rugby looks to get back to their winning ways this weekend when the No. 7 Wildcats visit 13th-ranked Arizona, 1 p.m., Saturday in Tucson, Ariz.

THE MATCHUP
The Wildcats (4-1) suffered their first loss of the spring last weekend to No. 6 BYU, falling 22-17 at Tomlinson Stadium. Jack Wendling had a pair of trys for Central in a defensive battle that wasn't decided until the final whistle.

Arizona (1-1-1), meanwhile, sustained a 94-10 home loss to No. 3 Cal last Saturday. Arizona has a victory over UCLA and a tie with Grand Canyon on its 2022 ledger.

SERIES HISTORY
Central Washington owns a 5-1 record in the series since CWU started varsity rugby. The teams first met in 2017 at a neutral site, with CWU coming on top, 17-15.

Central is 1-1 all-time in games played in Tucson, gaining a 32-28 win on their last visit in 2020.

The Wildcats downed Arizona, 47-10, last season in Ellensburg.

QUOTING HEAD COACH TODD THORNLEY
"We've got another tough one coming up as we take on a well-coached and talented Arizona team on the road. We were bitterly disappointed not only with the outcome this past weekend, but the performance so we are hoping we can apply some key learnings and put together a performance we are proud of in what will be a great environment in which to play collegiate rugby. I look forward to seeing our young team continuing to improve this coming Saturday."
