ELLENSBURG, Wash.—Central Washington men's rugby faces a busy weekend as the Wildcats play a pair of matches, beginning 6 p.m., Thursday, at Trinity Western. The Wildcats also open their home schedule on Saturday when they welcome Washington to Tomlinson Stadium for a noon kickoff.

The Wildcats (2-0) remained undefeated with a 46-3 victory at Western Washington last Saturday. Trinity Western (2-6) has won two straight, including a 34-17 victory against Axemen Rugby Club last weekend.

"Trinity Western is a talented team who has played a lot more rugby than us this year, so they present a massive challenge for us this week," CWU head coach
Todd Thornley said. "I'm really enjoying our teams' vulnerability during our review process as we strive to find ways to improve as we know we are not where we want to be currently. For us we are again working hard to continually improve from our previous outing, and we know we will have to be on top of our game to get the desired result. If we can bring more consistency in our fight around the contact point, then we have a chance of putting out a performance we are proud of."

Against Western Washington, the Wildcats saw seven different players score.
Arona Tauiliili scored twice and
Julian Arteaga,
Mitchell Hirose,
Calvin Liulamaga,
Jimmy Thomas,
Oscar Treacy and
Jack Tregoning each scored once as the Wildcats dominated play in the second half.

Trinity Western relaunched its rugby programs in 2019. The Spartans are coached by Andrew Evans.

Washington, meanwhile, will be playing its first match since Nov. 13, when they visited Oregon.

The Tomlinson Stadium box office for Saturday's fixture will open 60 minutes prior to kickoff. Tickets begin at $4.
