ELLENSBURG, Wash.—Top-ranked Saint Mary's scored the game-winning try in the final seconds of stoppage time as the Gaels escaped Tomlinson Stadium with a 30-27 victory over No. 7 Central Washington on Saturday.
 
The Wildcats (5-2) started strong, getting early trys from 
Marques Fuala'au and 
Drew Farrington, taking a 12-0 lead less than 12 minutes into the match.
 
After the Gaels (7-0) scored a try and connected on a penalty kick, 
Kye Jones scored the first of his two trys on the day, helping the Wildcats carry a 19-8 lead into halftime.
 
Jones struck again less than five minutes into the second half as CWU's lead swelled to 27-8.
 
But central couldn't hold on. St. Mary's cut the Wildcat lead with 27-13 with a try in the 54
th minute and cut even further into the deficit with a try in the 71
st minute to make it 27-18.
 
Another try for the Gaels came in the 76
th minute to get within 27-23, and the Gaels controlled the ball into extra time and scored the game-winner after a lengthy possession.
 
The Wildcats return to action when they visit Cal Berkely, 6 p.m., Friday, March 11.
