ELLENSBURG—Central Washington men's rugby standouts John DuPree and
Ivan Pula were chosen in the annual Major League Rugby Draft, which took place on Thursday, Aug. 18.
DuPree, a flanker from Lincoln, Calif., was selected 33
rd overall by the Utah Warriors. Pula, a prop from Yelm, Wash., was taken 37
th overall by the New England Free Jacks.
"This is fantastic for our two guys who declared for the draft to be picked up," CWU head coach
Todd Thornley said. "They have both worked extremely hard to get to this point and they are well aware of the work ahead of themselves. I could not be prouder of the example John and Ivan set over the past five years within our program and can't wait to track their progress in the pro ranks."
