MONMOUTH, Ore. - The Central Washington University cross country teams traveled to Monmouth, Ore. on Saturday for the NCAA DII West Regional Championships.
 
Johan Correa secured the first place finish in the Men's 10k race with a 30:42.1 finish Saturday morning becoming just the 7th individual in GNAC and first in Central Washington history to win the regional title. Correa's win makes CWU the sixth GNAC school to have an individual regional champion.

"I felt good going into the race. It was rainy and the course was slippery, but I was not worried about that. I knew the race would be a mental battle, so I was ready to do that. I'm happy with how I raced and won such a big meet."
 
RACE RESULTS - MEN'S 10K

• Johan Correa finished in first place with a final time of 30:42.1
• Steiner Christensen placed 21st with a time of 31:11.6
• Chase Nicholas Perez (34:08.3) finished 116th.
• Quinten Jones (34:15.4) finished 121st.
• Jack Pratapas (34:21.9) finished 124th.
• Max Hutton (34:39.2) finished 130th.
• Colin Hitchcock (34:52.2) finished 131st.
• As a team, the Wildcats finished 14th. 

RACE RESULTS - WOMEN'S 6K

• Camryn Holterhoff finished 132nd, leading the women with a time of 24:25.1, finishing just before Hannah Mikkelsen in 133rd with a time of 24:52.2.
• Lauren Thompson (25:04.0) finished 142nd.
• Nicole Yanasak (25:11.0) finished 145th.
• Madison Thompson (25:47.2) finished 152nd.
• Eva Herion (25:47.3) finished 153rd.
• Beatrice Le Gore (25:47.7) finished 154th.
• As a team, the Wildcats finished 23rd.

Correa will compete in the NCAA Championships on Saturday, Nov. 18th, in Joplin, Missouri.
