#4 Wildcats Send Orcas Swimming Back To Seattle

ELLENSBURG, Wash. - The #4 Central Washington University Wildcats Men's Rugby team beat the Seattle Rugby Club Orcas on Sunday morning by a final score of 42-28. Calvin Liulamaga would score 2 tries for the Wildcats with Oliver Cline going 5/5 on conversion attempts in the contest.

"Happy for a lot of our guys to get some valuable minutes, make some mistakes and see what playing good teams is all about. We have a lot of work to do, but winning is important after a disappointing performance on Tuesday. We look forward to the next challenge and sending our seniors off the right way"
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  •  Charlie Platt would get the day started scoring a try at the 7:13 mark. Taine Jones would put the conversion through the uprights to give the 'Cats the early lead 7-0.
  • Seattle Rugby Club would even the score on a try by number 6  at 12:00, and conversion by number 10. 7-7.
  • The Orcas would get their second try by number 7 at 24:30. The good conversion would grow their lead 7-14. 
  • SRC would get their third try by number 13 at 32:05. Successful conversion would make it 7-21. 
  • The Wildcats would score first out of halftime when Trevor Schweer would convert a try at 52:20. Oliver Cline would be successful on the conversion attempt, Wildcats closing in 14-21.
  • Benji Ward would help tie it up again when he coveted a try three minutes later at 55:38. The good conversion locks it up 21-21. 
  • Another three minutes later Calvin Liulamaga would score his first try of the contest at 58:48, the successful conversion would give the 'Cats the lead 28-21. 
  • The Orcas would tie it again at 63:55 when number 8 would score a try and their successful conversion would make it 28-28.
  • Ten Minutes later, Liulamaga would get his second try giving the Wildcats the lead at 73:48. Good conversion would make it 35-28. 
  • Taine Jones would call game scoring a try in the last minute to close it out for the Wildcats. With the good conversion, the Wildcats would go on to win 42-28.
 
FORMER 'CATS
Central Washington University would like to congratulate and recognize three former Wildcats currently playing for the Seattle Rugby Club. Taine and Ky's brother Rhys Jones, and brothers Noah and Ian Wright continue their Rugby careers playing for the Orcas. 
Coach Todd Thornley added: "It was great to see some familiar faces on the other side today, although it meant our job was a lot harder, as they would have loved to have gone home with a win. Always good to see our alumni!"
 
WHATS NEXT
The Wildcats will stay at home for their seventh consecutive home game when they host Trinity Western for Senior Day on Saturday March 30th, with kickoff set for 2:00 pm at Tomlinson Stadium
