ELLENSBURG, Wash. - The #2 seeded Central Washington University Wildcats Men's Rugby team held on to beat #7 University of Arizona Wildcats Saturday morning by a final score of 23-17.
Oscar Treacy scored a pair of tries in the contest for the Wildcats. Central advances to the second round and will host BYU next Saturday April 13th.

"We are pleased to advance but our performance was one that will need to grow significantly to have any chance of even competing next week. Credit to Arizona, they were well prepared and turned us over a lot. I'm proud of our grit but we will need a big week of prep going into another big battle with an old foe next week."
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Central Wildcats would get the first points of the game when Jac Tregoning would be successful in making a penalty kick to give Central the lead 3-0.
- Oscar Treacy would extend Central's lead when he scored a try in the 18th minute, the Wildcats would miss the conversion but lead 8-0.
- Arizona would get on the board with a try by #7, they would be successful on the conversion but would trail 8-7.
- Drew Ferrington would send us to halftime extending the lead for CWU when he scored a try off the lineout. The Wildcats came together to help push and lift Ferrington to the score. "The Dragon" Tregoning would be successful on the conversion from DEEP to make it 15-7.
- A minute into the second half the Central Wildcats would be successful on another penalty kick to extend the lead 18-7.
- CWU's Treacy would score his second try of the contest in the 47th minute when he would break free off a lineout that saw a flashy pass find Oscar. Treacy would get free up the left side-line after finding a hole, the Wildcats would miss the conversion but lead 23-7.
- Arizona would get their second try when #2 would break free up the right side, they would miss the conversion and trail 23-12.
- The Arizona Wildcats would score again in the 77th minute and miss the conversion to ultimately fall 23-17.

The Wildcats will host the #3 seeded BYU next Saturday April 13th in the second round of the D1A National Championship Rugby Playoffs.
