QUOTING HEAD COACH TODD THORNLEY
"After a mixed performance last week, we are eager to put out a performance that we are proud of and indicative of our DNA this week at home. UVIC are a well-coached dangerous team who will test us in similar ways to what UBC did, so it provides a great opportunity for us to grow in our detail. If we work hard for each other and embrace the little nuances of our game model we have a chance of beating a very good team, bring on the challenge!"
ABOUT THE FIXTURE
The Vikes will enter Tomlinson Stadium with a 4-9 overall record in the fall. They've been off since late November where they went 3-2 in the Canadian University Men's Rugby Championship. The three victories came against Ottawa, UBC Okanagan, and Castaway Wanderers.
The Wildcats are coming off a tough match against the University of British Columbia in Bellingham, Wash. In a close contest, the Thunderbirds pulled ahead late and held on for a 38-27 victory. The 'Cats will aim to bounce back and secure their first win of the season on Saturday.
The Crimson and Black are 3-3 all-time vs the Vikes. In their most recent matchup, CWU defeated UVIC last January on the road, 27-22.
