QUOTING HEAD COACH TODD THORNLEY
"Taking on the national champions in their backyard is a challenge we are really looking forward to and walking towards. St. Mary's will test us in all areas of the game so it will be a great opportunity for our group to see what we are made of. We have had some great battles in the last few years and are expecting the same this coming Sunday."

ABOUT THE FIXTURE
The Gaels have kicked off their season in impressive fashion, securing dominant wins over #6 BYU, 60-28, and GCU, 40-3. Their resilience has been put to the test on the road, but they've responded with determination and capitalized on key conversion opportunities. As the reigning 2024 D1A USA National Champions, they are poised for another strong campaign, aiming for another deep postseason run after an exciting start.

Meanwhile, the Wildcats are coming off a strong 20-12 win against #10 Cal Poly this past weekend in the 'Burg. Jac Tregoning gave CWU an early lead with a penalty kick, putting them up 3-0. Campbell Robb was a standout, scoring two tries, while his teammate Tiai Vavao also contributed with a try of his own. The 'Cats will aim to maintain their momentum following a big win, as they set their sights on defeating the #3 ranked team in the nation.

The Crimson and Black are 1-5 all-time against the Gaels, with their most recent matchup resulting in a nail-biting defeat, 27-26, which took place in Ellensburg, Wash. on February 24th, 2024. The lone win for the 'Cats came in 2023, in a road victory in Moraga, Calif., 29-26. It is safe to say that each match between these two schools is highly competitive and close in margins.
