ELLENSBURG, Wash. – The Central Washington University Softball Team concluded their 2025 season with two setbacks Saturday afternoon against the #11 Western Washington Vikings.

GAME 1:

GAME 1:
SCORING:
- WWU struck in the second inning when Paris Dellamaggiore doubled to right center to score Olivia Matlock followed by McKenna Crum singling to right field to score Dellamaggior to make it 2-0 Vikings.
- Crum added on in the fourth when she singled to score Matlock and Haylee Kim making it 4-0 WWU.
- Reese Schimmel cut the 'Cat deficit in half with a single up the middle in the bottom of the fourth to score Serena Perez and Cady Wilton to make it 4-2 Vikings.
- The Vikings put the game away in the sixth inning with a five run inning, adding one more in the seventh to make it a 10-2 victory for WWU.
HITTING:
- Brooke Blocker and Perez each logged two hits to lead CWU.
- Karsyn Decker, Ashtyn Falor, and Schimmel each had one hit.
- Schimmel had both RBI for the 'Cats.
- Mia Flores and Falor both drew one walk.
- Laila Carpenter led WWU with four hits while Crum led with four RBI.
PITCHING:
- Payton Kessler pitched all seven innings for CWU allowing 15 hits, 10 runs with six being earned, and three walks while striking three out out of 39 batters.
- Kaiana Kong pitched four innings for WWU allowing six hits, two runs, and one walk while striking out four of 19 batters.
- Alli Kimball pitched the final three innings for the Vikings allowing one hit and one walk while striking out four of 11 batters.
GAME 2:
SCORING:
- Lexi Barcomb started the scoring in the second inning with a single to the shortsop to score Nyree Johnson.
- Still in the second, Kanilehua Pitoy singled to left field to score Crum followed by Hailey Rath homering to center field to score Pitoy and Barcomb in the process making it 5-0 WWU.
- Adriana Rodriguez responded in the bottom of the second with a single to left field to score McKayla Cable cutting it to 5-1 Vikings.
- Barcomb added again in the third when she sacrificed herself to the left fielder to score Johnson making it 6-1 WWU.
- Emma Andrewjeski-Ramirez singled to left field in the fourth to score Maleah Andrews followed by Matlock singling to right field to score Rath making it 8-1 WWU.
- Later in the fourth Johnson homered to right center to score Matlock and Andrewjeski-Ramirez to make it 11-1 Vikings.
- Kim added on in the fifth with a homerun to center field to make it 12-1 in favor of Western Washington.
HITTING:
- Cable and Rodriguez both had two hits to lead the crimson and black.
- Cady Wilton, Halle Dilger, Schimmel, and Perez all logged one hit apiece.
- Rodriguez had the sole CWU RBI.
- The Vikings had three players with two hits and two players with three RBI.
PITCHING:
- Zoey Theophilus pitched 3.1 innings allowing nine hits, 11 runs with six being earned, and two walks against 24 batters.
- Ellie Gilbert pitched the final 1.2 innings allowing two hits and one run against nine batters.
- Joie Baker pitched three innings allowing five hits and one run while striking out two of 15 batters.
- Kong pitched the final two innings allowing three hits while earning one strikeout against nine batters.
SERIES HISTORY:
- WWU now leads the all-time series 91-78.
- The 'Cats are 33-43 against the Vikings in Ellensburg.
- WWU is 7-3 in the past 10 matchups.

- The Wildcats will turn their attention to the 2026 season where they will see an abundance of talent return that includes 16 underclassmen from the 2025 season that will be hungry to get back to the GNAC Tournament and beyond.
