Tacoma, Wash. – A limited Women's Cross Country team participated in the Pacific Lutheran University invitational placing fifth among 15 eligible schools. Junior Julie Thompson led the squad finishing 30th with a time of 23:01.1 shortly followed by Junior
Teagan Pentz.

"Today was a really productive day for us. We talk about taking steps a lot in our program and we look at that in a multitude of ways. The group we brought to PLU has put in a lot of great work over the last few weeks and it was fun for them to get to experience results from that work at the race in Lakewood.
Julie Johnson and
Teagan Pentz had great runs leading our group. This was Teagan's first race for us since transferring into the program so we're super stoked at the progress she's made.
Heidi Gill,
Audrey Lucas and
Violet Gowdy also had outstanding starts in their first 6Ks of the year. Next week will be another great opportunity to continue taking those steps."

George Fox University was the winning school with 35 points with Whitworth behind them with 71. Evergreen State Colleges Alauna Carstens was the class of the field finishing first with a lighting quick run of 20:50.9. As for the Wildcats, it was
Julie Johnson leading the way for CWU running 23:03.1 to give her 30th place out of 147 qualified runners. Teagen Pentz was next to cross the line as she toted a time of 23:07.6 just four seconds after Johnson putting her in 32nd.
Audrey Lucas and
Heidi Gill were next to finish as three seconds separated the two of them. Lucas was 57th with 24:04.2 and Gill in 59th with 24:07.2.
Violet Gowdy was the last Wildcat that participated in the event running her time of 24:51.5 and finishing 77th. All the Wildcats that participated in the event finished in the top half of runners, giving the 'Cats a score of 187 good enough for fifth place out of the 15 competing schools.
