Ferndale, Wash. – CWU Cross Country traveled to enemy territory as they participated in the Bill Roe Classic, hosted by the rival Western Washington Vikings. The women's squad had a very strong showing in the Women's 6k finishing second place among nine qualified schools. The men's team had some strong times themselves in the Men's 8k but ultimately finished eighth with a total of 12 schools competing.

Starting with the women's squad, they had three runners place in the top seven out of 85 runners. Maddy Harrison once again led the way finishing third with her lightning-fast time of 21:14.9. Dawn Hulstedt was next to cross the line for the 'Cats at sixth place followed up by Payton Conover in seventh with her time of 21:56.6. There were still plenty more impressive performances left in the race as Hannah Pidduck rounded out the top 15 with a time of 22:22.9. Lillian Neff found herself finishing 22^nd after a time of 22:54.6 and Katie Manly was a little behind her closing out the top 30 with her 23:16.2. The result for team scores had the Wildcats finishing in second place with 53 points as they fell just short to their rival with 44 points in Western Washington.
 
Out of the 150 runners in the Men's 8k, the top Wildcat was once again Weston Breen with a strong run of 25.52.1 putting him in 30^th place. Charlie Naught also had himself a good showing with a 44^th place finish running his time of 26:19.7. Christian Rosca and Sylas Allen finished only nine seconds apart as Rosca crossed the line 57^th with a time of 26:39.0 and Allen in 60^th running a 26:48.8. The results by the 'Cats put them in eight place in team scores with a total of 198 points finishing behind Alaska Fairbanks with their score of 182.
 
Next Up:
 
Cross Country finally has a full rest week as they do not have a meet this upcoming weekend. They will however have to travel to Romeoville, IL in two weeks for the Lewis Crossover on Saturday, Oct. 10. The meet will take place at 7:45 a.m. pacific standard time.
