Schimmel joined the Wildcats’ staff in August 2021.

She was a four-year member of Portland State’s softball team. A right-handed pitcher, Schimmel made 44 appearances over her career with the Vikings. She made 13 starts and tossed a pair of complete games. Schimmel logged 102 innings, striking out 40 hitters.

In 2019, Schimmel earned three wins and tossed a career-high 47 innings. She earned her first career win after tossing 4.1 innings against Maryland. During her freshman campaign in 2018, Schimmel threw her first career complete game against Oregon State. She made her collegiate debut with an inning-long relief appearance against No. 9 Florida State.

Schimmel was a two-time Academic All-Big Sky Conference selection.
