Randy Stevenson enters his fifth season as an assistant coach with the Central Washington Track and Field/Cross Country program.
Specializing in coaching the sprints, hurdles, and jumps events, Stevenson played a pivotal role in the Wildcats’ success during the 2023-2024 season where the women’s team finished 2nd and the men’s team finished 3rd at the GNAC Indoor Championships, the best team performances since 2019, and earning 2nd place finishes at the Outdoor GNAC Championships. Under Stevenson’s mentorship during the indoor and outdoor seasons, Wildcat athletes earned 14 individual GNAC titles and 30 all-conference selections. During the indoor campaign, three athletes achieved All-American status at the NCAA Division II National Championships: E’lexis Hollis (1st team), Lauryn Chandler (2nd team), and Emy Ntekpere (2nd team). Additionally, Stevenson’s guidance led to the breaking of school records in the men’s and women’s 200m dash (indoor), women’s 60m dash, women’s 200m dash (outdoor), and both the men’s and women’s 4x100m Relay set new school and GNAC conference records. Stevenson was a 2024 USTFCCCA West Regional Division II Assistant Coach of the Year finalist.
During the 2022 and 2023 indoor track seasons, Stevenson helped guide E’lexis Hollis and Bobby Widmar to victories in the 60m dash at the 2022 Indoor GNAC Championships in addition to guiding the men’s 4x400 relay setting a new school record and winning the conference title in 2023. Stevenson also guided Hollis to set new school records in the 60m and 100m dash and qualified for the NCAA Division II Indoor and Outdoor Championships alongside Lauryn Chandler in 2023. Under Stevenson’s guidance, Hollis earned the 2nd fastest time in GNAC history in the women’s 60m dash.
A native of Ellensburg, Wash., Stevenson earned both his Bachelor of Science in Sport Management with a specialization in Coaching (2021) and his Master of Science in Athletic Administration (2023) from Central Washington University. Stevenson also holds a USATF Level 1 Coaching Certification.
